The morning sun on the yellow gladiolas

Wildflower; pick up your pretty head
It will get easier; your dreams are not dead.

The morning sun on the yellow gladiolas

The morning sun on the yellow gladiolas

Lights the first two petals

Making them seem to glow from inside

I love the gladiolas

And the long pine kitchen table

Where they wait in a round-bottomed white pitcher

And I love the morning sun that first shines

On any flower in that place

Roses or daisies or various colors of alstroemeria,

Tulips or daffodils

An occasional blooming bougainvillea from the trellis or jasmine from the fence

Or amarylis, either white or red during the holiday season

All those flowers and others at this time or that

In a white pitcher or a blue and white pot or a turquoise or crystal vase

Or my mother’s black painted vessel

Any touched through the window by early sunlight

Inching its way across the waiting petals

Light me next!

And flashing off the blue bottles on the outside bottle tree

Giving them their own inner light

Before sliding over the crystals at the window

To shoot rainbows on the ceiling

And across to the far wall

Every step full of its own joy

Oh yes, every sunny morning

I love the gladiola petals lighted from the inside

I love the morning sun and the crystal rainbows

And the bottle tree

Each morning I notice and remember to know

Right now

Everything is easier

Dreams flourish.

    Good Morning Dale,

The sun isn’t up yet so I am feeling like a wilted flower. It was just wonderful to read your poem just now. I will be a yellow gladiola this morning and let the Sun lift me up. A wonderful reading for my soul.

Hi, Debbie, I am sorry to have missed your comment until now. Ah yes, deciding to be a yellow gladiola lifted by the sun. Good for you! And thank you. Love… Dale
